Aerospatiale
Aérospatiale was originally known as Société Nationale Industrielle Aérospatiale (SNIAS). It was created in 1970 by the merger of the state-owned companies Sud Aviation, Nord Aviation and Société d'études et de réalisation d'engins balistiques (SÉREB). The company built civilian and military aircraft and helicopters, rockets and satellites. In 2000 its successor, Aérospatiale-Matra, merged with CASA of Spain and DASA of Germany to form the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS).
