EADS
British Aerospace and Marconi Electronic Systems formed BAe Systems in 1999, while in the same year DASA (DaimlerChrysler Aerospace) and the Spanish aircraft company CASA (Construcciones Aeronáuticas SA) also merged. DASA then agreed to merge with Aérospatiale-Matra, to create the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company, which became the world's second largest aerospace company after Boeing and the second-largest European arms manufacturer after BAe Systems. In 2001 both EADS and BAe transferred ownership of their Airbus factories to the new Airbus company in return for 80% and 20% shares in it respectively. By 2006 EADS had become the sole shareholder of Airbus by buying the BAe share of the business. Aircraft and helicopter manufacturers now under the EADS umbrella include Airbus, Eurocopter, Eurofighter, ATR, Socata, CASA, Dornier and Dassault.
