Construcciones Aeronáuticas SA (CASA)
This Spanish aircraft manufacturer was founded in 1923 by Don José Ortez Echague, to produce metal aircraft at Madrid Getafe for the Ejercito del Aire. Major programmes included the Breguet XIX, Dornier Wal and Vickers Vildebeeste. The first original design was the CASA.III 2-seat parasol tourer. After the civil war, a second plant at Seville produced German-designed aircraft, and after WW2 transport and trainer aircraft. Later came the Do 27, F-5A/B and BO 105 helicopters. CASA has been a part of EADS, the European aerospace corporation, with Aérospatiale-Matra of France, Dornier GmbH and DASA of Germany since 1999, since which the Spanish branch of EADS has been called EADS-CASA.
