The rise of online casinos and mobile casino apps have changed the landscape of gambling in California. With the many recent innovations in technology, gamblers can now play casino games using their home computer or mobile devices.
There are countless California online casinos and apps where you can gamble conveniently, safely, and legally when you’re in the Golden State. But sometimes, nothing beats the real deal.
When it comes to land-based casinos, the best experiences are often from the largest establishments. These are the properties that offer more table games, more slot machines, and of course, have a spacious gaming area.
Let’s take a look at the largest casinos in California.
The Pechanga Resort Casino at Temecula has the largest casino floor in the state of California at 188,000 square feet. The resort has over 5,000 slot machines and 158 table games to choose from. It also has a state-of-the-art bingo facility with over 700 seats and a non-smoking poker room with 38 tables.
In 2018, the Pechanga completed a $285 million expansion that enhanced its status as one of the largest casinos in California. The development included 568 new rooms and suites, a 4.5-acre pool complex, a two-story spa, a new events place, two new restaurants, and 2,400 parking spaces.
The Cache Creek Casino Resort is the leading casino resort in Northern California. It’s located in Capay Valley just outside of San Francisco and Sacramento. The Cache Creek offers over 2,000 slots machines and over a hundred table games.
A $200 million expansion project which was supposed to add 459 rooms and suites has been delayed, but the owners are fully committed to keeping the Cache Creek among the largest casinos in California.
The San Manuel Casino is just one hour outside of Los Angeles in Highland, CA. This multi-awarded casino has been the staple of gambling in the Southern California area since 1986. It houses 4,900 slot machines, including the highest number of Konami machines in the world.
This casino is currently adding 750,000 square feet of additional space to the property in an ambitious $500 million undertaking expected to be completed in 2021. The project includes an onsite hotel and spa, a six-story parking structure, and a new entertainment venue that will transform this former bingo hall into one of the largest casinos in California.
Located 30 miles east of Sacramento, the Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln is one of the largest casinos in California. Thunder Valley boasts of a facility that’s over 250,000 square feet and houses over 2,800 slots and video machines, 114 gaming tables, and a 21-table poker room.
Thunder Valley underwent a $56 million remodel in 2018, which added an extra 25,000-square-foot poker room and bingo hall, plus the upgrading of its existing poker room to a high-limit slots area. It’s also scheduled to add 111 new rooms to its 17-story tower hotel this year.
San Diego’s premier luxury gaming resort is the Viejas Casino and Resort in Alpine which has 133,000 square feet of gaming space and an arsenal of 2,500 slot machines, 82 gaming tables, and 18 poker tables.
