Boeing Vertol/Kawasaki 107 II Hkp 4D 04070
Photographed arriving at Säve airport on 1 March 2011, this is the latest acquisition by Gothenburg's Aeroseum. There are still 400 flying hours left on it, so if I am very lucky I may get a flight before it goes on to permanent display underground.
This is one of the four that in 2008 were modified for participation in the Nordic Battlegroup's helicopter unit, Heli Unit 01 (HU01). They are used for tactical transport purposes and humanitarian missions. The modification included the fitting of ballistic protection and machine guns for self-protection. Note the powerful salvage winch over the door.
The first Vertol 107 came into service with the Swedish Army and Air Force in 1963.
