Kaman HOK-1 with T53 engine

Kaman HOK-1 (Bu-125531) with Lycoming T53. This was the first aircraft to fly with the Lycoming T53-L-1B, which was the first gas turbine engine designed for helicopters.

Location: Bridgeport Municipal Airport, Stratford, CT (USA).

Comments:
It is not quite true that the T53 was the first turboshaft designed for helicopters. In France, the Alouette II powered by a Turbomeca built turboshaft engine flew in March 1955 with the first production aircraft delivered to the French Air Force in May 1956.
