1905 Wright Flyer III
This is the original Wright Flyer III, displayed in Carillon Park, Dayton, Ohio. In the autumn of 1905 Wilbur and Orville Wright piloted this airplane in record breaking flights at Huffman Prairie Flying Field just outside of Dayton. The 1905 Wright Flyer was restored in the late 1940s with the help of Orville Wright.
The Museum also contains the Wright Brothers' camera which was used to take their historic photograph of the first powered flight, a large copy of which takes pride of place on the wall of my lounge.
Picture Added on 05 January 2008.
