Hi Andrew,
Nice photo.. where did you get it? Family album?
Any personal history with it?

Added by Marcel Gommers on 03 September 2009.
W4056 was a photo-reconnaissance PR. Mk 1 Mosquito assigned to No. 1 PRU and reported missing from a PR mission to Trondheim on 2 April 1942.
Has anyone any more information?

Marcel, yes the picture is owned by myself, it came from my late grandfather who served in the R.A.F from 1942, however he joined after the aircraft was lost, how he came by it will always remain a mystery.

Hello Andrew I am Michael Prendergast chief History researcher at RAF Benson where W4056 flew from originally.
Can you tell me if this is the only photo your Grand Father had and if he was ever at RAF Benson at any time.
Mick
