Avro Lincoln

This beast was developed from the famous Lancaster, but was considerably larger. It was also powered by Rolls-Royce Griffon engines as opposed to the Lanc's Merlins, so it would have sounded magnificent, as well as looking it! This one is at RAF Cosford.

Comments:
I think you will find that the Lincoln was powered by Merlin 61s.

I lived as a boy at RAF Waddington which was populated by Lincolns (my father was a Flight Sergeant in 61 Sqn). The Merlins that powered them were the 85, 85B, 66, 68, 68A, 300 or 102, depending on the Mark of Lincoln. I well remember the sound!
