de Havilland DH.82A Tiger Moth T-6818/G-ANKT

Photographed at Old Warden on 18 May 2004. Part of the Shuttleworth Collection.
This aeroplane, c/n 85087, is painted in the RAF second World War trainer scheme. The DH82a Tiger Moth was the most famous of De Havilland's Moth series and was operated as a trainer by many flying clubs and air forces.
In total over 8,700 Tiger Moths were built, 4,200 of them for the RAF alone. The type is credited with training thousands of pilots for the Allied war effort and remained in service until as late as 1951 in the UK and 1955 in New Zealand.
