It also has a state-of-the-art bingo facility with over 700 seats and a non-smoking poker room with 38 tables.
In 2018, the Pechanga completed a $285 million expansion that enhanced its status as one of the largest casinos in California. The development included 568 new rooms and suites, a 4.5-acre pool complex, a two-story spa, a new events place, two new restaurants, and 2,400 parking spaces.
2. Cache Creek Casino Resort
The Cache Creek Casino Resort is the leading casino resort in Northern California. It’s located in Capay Valley just outside of San Francisco and Sacramento. The Cache Creek offers over 2,000 slots machines and over a hundred table games.
A $200 million expansion project which was supposed to add 459 rooms and suites has been delayed, but the owners are fully committed to keeping the Cache Creek among the largest casinos in California.
3. San Manuel Casino
The San Manuel Casino is just one hour outside of Los Angeles in Highland, CA. This multi-awarded casino has been the staple of gambling in the Southern California area since 1986. It houses 4,900 slot machines, including the highest number of Konami machines in the world.
This casino is currently adding 750,000 square feet of additional space to the property in an ambitious $500 million undertaking expected to be completed in 2021. The project includes an onsite hotel and spa, a six-story parking structure, and a new entertainment venue that will transform this former bingo hall into one of the largest casinos in California.
4. Thunder Valley Casino
Located 30 miles east of Sacramento, the Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln is one of the largest casinos in California. Thunder Valley boasts of a facility that’s over 250,000 square feet and houses over 2,800 slots and video machines, 114 gaming tables, and a 21-table poker room.
Thunder Valley underwent a $56 million remodel in 2018, which added an extra 25,000-square-foot poker room and bingo hall, plus the upgrading of its existing poker room to a high-limit slots area. It’s also scheduled to add 111 new rooms to its 17-story tower hotel this year.
5. Viejas Casino and Resort
San Diego’s premier luxury gaming resort is the Viejas Casino and Resort in Alpine which has 133,000 square feet of gaming space and an arsenal of 2,500 slot machines, 82 gaming tables, and 18 poker tables.
Viejas’ seven-year expansion project was completed in 2018 with the development of the Willows Hotel and Spa. The adult-only spa boasts 159 suites, top-notch spa facilities, signature restaurants, a fitness center, and an expanded gaming space.
