European Cities That are Most Beautiful in The Winter

August 30, 2021 by Alexa Leave a Comment

Maybe on a trip, you enjoy as much as anything to step on freshly paved snow, observe unpredictable ice formations, slide on illuminated ice rinks and, when your face starts to burn from the frost, find shelter in a cafe to enjoy a cup of steaming chocolate. Then, these destinations seem to have been made especially for you. Just visit them in winter and especially during the holidays, which are filled with open-air bazaars, concerts and performances. Meet them and organize your winter getaway. To get the best rooms and tickets at affordable prices now is the perfect time to do so.

Budapest, Hungary

Budapest in winter is a cold city with a warm heart. The warmth comes from its 125 thermal springs and is especially welcome for visitors when the temperature is negative. Your initiation into its baths can start from Szechenyi, with its impressive neo-baroque architecture and centuries-old history. The day will continue with a walk along the Danube, where you will see the symbolic Parliament reflected in the water but also in the large pieces of ice floating on the river. It will be more fun on the lake of Varosliget Park, which in winter turns into a giant ice rink, always with the background of Vajdahunyad Castle. And it will close with a hot goulash soup in one of the historic cafes, such as the upscale New York Cafe housed in a 1984 Renaissance-style hotel.

Berlin, Germany

Life never stops in Berlin. Even when the temperature drops tens of degrees below zero, you can see Berliners riding their bikes in the snow. In the hip cafes of Neukolln and Kreuzberg, the concept of cosiness is constantly reinvented and exported throughout Europe, while students, artists and immigrants enjoy drinks and winter cocktails. As it winters in Berlin, the infinite colours of the trees give way to the snow white and the Tiergarten park, where the only sound you hear is that of your breath. As early as the end of November, the city is filled with Christmas bazaars, such as the Berliner Weihnachtszeit in Alexanderplatz, where you can buy handicrafts and drink mulled wine with spices.

Prague, Czech Republic

If you visit Prague in the winter, you will suddenly find yourself in a huge fairy-tale setting as you walk among snow-covered buildings, reminiscent of icing sugar cookies, and enjoy the atmospheric atmosphere that creates a cosmopolitan atmosphere. In fact, if you feel brave enough, you will participate in the guided tours organized in the haunted corners of the city, where, in the Jewish quarter, you may see Golem wandering. If, again, you prefer to get lost in the safety of the crowd, from the end of November in the Old Town Square is set up one of the largest Christmas markets in Europe, where between wooden puppets and Bohemian crystal items you will choose souvenirs and gifts while enjoying a czech sausage or some traditional dessert.

Vienna, Austria

It is as if the icy breath of winter breathes life into the streets of Vienna. As early as mid-November, Christmas bazaars are set up in various parts of the city. In Freyung Square, this tradition dates back to 1772, keeping its colour unchanged until today, while a more alternative proposal is the Christmas market of the University Campus, which with its old-fashioned carousel and children’s train attracts not only students but also families. Younger guests have the same fun on the huge ice rink, 8,500 sq.m. which is set up every year in front of the City Hall. Vienna, however, also honours its long tradition in classical music, with a host of concerts and opera performances, most notably its Philharmonic Concerto on New Year’s Eve, which is broadcast worldwide.

Of course, outside Vienna, you can visit the beautiful Austrian Alps with your family, with wonderful resorts that can accommodate you in their modern facilities. Austria is a country that gives a particular basis to skiing, which is perceived by its dozens of ski resorts. Needless to say, an experience in the Austrian Alps during the winter is a life experience. So if you are interested in living this experience, all you have to do is contact the company Erna Low, which will undertake all the planning for your vacation. So that you are wholly committed to experiencing this unprecedented experience.
